VESELI - Trailing 7-6, Hanska Bullheads scored six seventh inning runs to beat the Veseli Vulcans 12-7 Friday in the River Valley conference opener for both.
Hanska jumped to 4-0 lead in the first on hits by Todd Olson and Dave Fauth and sacrifice flies by Tom Steinbach and Brian Sieve. Singles by Olson and Bruce Jacobs produced two more in the fourth for a 6-1 lead. However, Veseli scored six in the sixth to take a 7-6 lead into the final inning. Singles by Fauth and Steinbach and a walk loaded the bases. Doug Ekstrom's single tied the game and put the Bullheads on top. Al Felber and Kyle Messner singled in the final insurance runs.
Kyle Messner pitched the final 1 2/3 innings in relief of Steinbach, including fanning the side in the seven to get the win. Fauth started and allowed just one unearned run in four innings.
