Andrew Jeffery Schugel, son of Jeff Schugel former NUHS and American Legion standout, has stuck with Pittsburg this season and now has 50 relief innings pitched in the major leagues. The 27-year-old right hander appeared in recent games for the Pirates.
Andrew has appeared in 27 games with Pittsburg after playing in five for Arizona in 2015 after a call-up from the minors. His ERA this year is 3.57.

He Attended Central Arizona College and was named 2010 NJCAA All-Region 1 and to the 2010 AoCCAC All-Conference Team as an infielder after graduating in 2007 from Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch, Colo. Andrew was drafted by the Padres in the 33rd round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft but did not sign. Later he was acquired by Los Angeles on the 774th pick in 2010. He is now on the Pirates' 40-man roster.

Father, Jeff, is a longtime scout and current Reds special assistant to general manager Walt Jocketty...Godfather is D-backs Special Assistant to the GM Mike Piatnik.
