BULLHEADS SWEEP THREE OVER WEEKEND

HANSKA - Following a thrilling come from behind 4-3 extra win over Bloomington Saturday, the Hanska Bullheads picked up two more home field victories Sunday June 21st.

.A Tom Steinbach third inning grand slam home run accounted for all the Bullhead runs in a 4-2 win over the St. Peter Saints in a River Valley Conference game. The Steinbach blast followed walks to John Giefer and Dave Fauth, and a Mike Marquardt hit-by-pitch. Fauth earned the win going six innings, scattering seven hits, and striking out seven. Kyle Messner picked up the save, fanning three hitters in the final frame.<
After Slayton defeated St. Peter 15-0 in a 3 p.m. contest, Hanska and Slayton played a non-conference game. Messner, the winning pitcher, threw a complete game four-hit victory and provided most of the offense for Hanska. Trailing 1-0 with one out in the fourth inning, Steinbach grounded a base hit to left. Following a Brian Sieve sacrifice bunt, Al Felber and Bruce Jacobs walked to load the bases. Messner then connected for a two out bases-clearing double. Another insurance run was added in the 6th on a Fellber hit, a couple of walks, and a throwing error by the catcher as his throw caromed off the runner's helmet.
The Slayton line-up included two former area high school players: Mike Wenninger of New Ulm and Tarry Boelter of Sleepy Eye who Friday caught his dad's ceremonial first pitch at the high school seniors all-star series in Chaska. Slayton is a new team for 2009 and are an at-large team in the MSMABA this season.
Saturday June 27, Hanska will host the second annual "Fish Bowl" tournament. The Bullheads will play 10:30 and 3:30 games, and their opponents, the Miesville Groupers and Minnetonka Lakers will get together for a 1:30 contest. The tournament site rotates locations each year, and was played at
Miesville in 2008.
