STEINBACH IN NEW BASEBALL BOOK

Minnesota's newest baseball book, Minnesotans in Baseball may be obtained through New Ulm Sports Central. Book Publisher is Nodin Press and is edited by Stew Thornley, noted state baseball historian. It contains chapters on 46 players from Minnesota who made significant contributions to the game at the major league level.
One chapter featuring New Ulm's Terry Steinbach. Chapters also cover Olivia's Blix Donnelly and Jerry Kindall, former Gopher who played for Marshall in the Western Minnesota League's glory days. Several articles in the Johnson Park anniversary book by New Ulm sports historians were listed as information sources.
Copies may be ordered for 25.95 plus 4.50 for postage and handling (total 30.45) by writing New Ulm Sports Central, 1435 10th South St., New Ulm, MN 56073. The Publisher is providing a portion of the price to New Ulm Sports Central to help the expenses of maintaining the web site and preserving the New Ulm area's sports heritage.
Selections of players was made by the Halsey Hall Chapter as to those born and raised in the state and those born elsewhere but moved to Minnesota at an early age.
Immediate New Ulm area players who had brief stays in the major leagues were not covered in the book. The list includes people like Brad Guldan (born in New Ulm), Fred Bruckbauer (born in New Ulm) and who Doc Hamann will be research projects of New Ulm Sports Central so their information to be permanently added to the historic files. At this time the "immediate New Ulm area" is defined by NUSC as those locations within the New Ulm public school district.
