Gibbon goes to state with win over Stark

Aug. 14, 2017 - Tomahawk East League has announced the selection of additional draftees for state tournament play after the final tie-breaker game Saturday that sends Gibbon to the state tournament.

Lamberton has drafted Kyle Pinke of St. James and Sean Mathiowetz of Stark. Springfield claimed Adam Sellner of Stark and Brandon Flock, Leavenworth. Gibbon acquired Dayton Larson, Hanska, and Alan Woitas, Sleepy Eye.

In final games Saturday, upstart Gibbon romped into the state tournament with the combination of the 20-2 win over Sleepy Eye in seven innings and with Sunday's 9-3 loss by Stark against Springfield which put the Tigers into the Class C tournament and Gibbon's tiebreaker 9-4 victory over Stark. Gibbon ....... 4-2
Stark ......... 3-3
Hanska ...... 1-4
