VFW Gold Falls but stays alive for Saturday

WILLMAR - FRIDAY, AUG. 11, 2017 -- New Ulm Post 1648 was stunned by Monticello 9-0 in the winner's bracket but bounced back to post a 6-5 win over Minneapolis Centennial and stay alive in the loser's bracket. New Ulm now plays at 2:30 Saturday and needs to win to stay in the running.

A New Ulm win will keep the team alive. A loss will give the team an automatic fourth place finish according to th bracket reproduced from the state website.

WILLMAR - New Ulm joined Monticello in the winner's bracket semi-finals of the Minnesota VFW state tournament while Luverne and Woodbury Red play in the other game. Gold beat Fergus Falls 10-5 while Monticello took Winona 9-2.

Gold's game Friday at noon is one of six scheduled for Friday. Bracket from state VFW tournament through Friday night (some games unreported on the bracket)
