| Other Information: | Circa 1953 candid photos of Coach Morris Ness in teacher's lounge at New Ulm High School. Ness was probably the originator of the zone press in Minnesota. Also see previous envelope number 10 for additional mug shot type photo. Ness introduced the press (he called it the Z-P to disguise it from other coaches according to Schaper who was a senior at New Ulm High School in 1949 when Ness brought the idea back from a coaching clinic in South Carolina. That was verified 50 years later by Steve who was a son of Ness Schaper later became sports editor of the New Ulm Journal. He and Morrie had a mutual respect and friendship in those days while Ness was at New Ulm High School. |
