Tommy Hayes, Class of 1947, pitched two no-hit games in the Carleton high school baseball tournament. The Carleton tournament was the only tournament providing a state tournament championship in that era. The clipping is from the Minneapolis Tribune or Star Journal and was published June 12, 1947 according to the dating by Patty (Tierney) Schnobrich. He pitched and won three games that day for the Class S championship.
The same clipping reported a no-hit, no-run game by Duane
Wells of Lamberton in a Junior Legion baseball 31-0 (correct) win over Sanborn. |
