Other Information: A community-wide meeting drew lots of baseball enthusiasts and supporters to voice ideas on what improvements and enhancements could be made to the historic 76-year-old cultural treasurer of the city. The article in the New Ulm Journal reporting on the meeting is the image accompanying this object. City staff and the design firm engaged to do some overall and strategic planning were encouraged to think beyond a coat of paint and fixing up the bathrooms. The entire sports area is envisioned by Park and Recreation as becoming a regional athletic complex with changes designed to improve the facilities involved. A possibility was raised to include a baseball museum and all-around structure to attract and assist the major events to the Johnson Park as a major community benefit. This object was prepared by Herb Schaper of New Ulm Sports Central and others who has strongly painted he vision of a revitalized Johnson Park in modernized surroundings. A second planning meeting that day concentrated on the new bike and walking trail in lower New Ulm.
