MLC's Babinec Named UMAC Player of the Year

ST. PAUL - MLC women's basketball player Erica Babinec was named UMAC Player of the Year Tuesday, and was also voted First Team All-UMAC for the fourth time in her career. Forward Amanda Burk received Second Team All-UMAC honors.

Babinec led MLC in points per game (16.1), assists (82) and steals (67), and ranked second in rebounds per game (7.4), helping MLC to a 20-7 record and its first ever regular season conference championship.

Babinec finished the season ranked inside the top ten in the UMAC in points, rebounds, assists, steals, free throws made, free throw percentage and minutes played. She was also named to the All-Defensive Team for the third consecutive season.

Burk was named second team all-conference after averaging 13.2 points and a team-leading 8.8 rebounds per game. Her rebounding total ranked third in the UMAC, while she also ranked third in field goal percentage at 48.7 percent. Burk finished the season with 11 double-doubles.

Brittney Gossen was the MLC recipient of the Sportsmanship Award.
