For the second time in less than two days, New Ulm's Nate VanRoeckel has been named to a national baseball All-American team.
He was named to the third team for the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association team and again his shortstop, Seth McMullen, was also honored with a second team selections.
"It continues to be great for Nate and Seth to be honored for the seasons they had, WSU head coach Kyle Poock said. "The coaches voting for the award have seen us play all year and to be named All-American by them shows the respect both players have earned. This is a great honor for them individually, but also for the Warrior baseball program.
Van Roeckel led the Warriors with 12 home runs and 51 RBI while hitting .352. He had 70 hits in his senior year, stole eight bases and tied a WSU single game record with three homers and 10 RBI in a win over Northern State.
In the photo provided to Sports Central by Rob Bute last year when Winona played St. Cloud, the New Ulm High School players in the Sun Division 2 Conference talked Eagle baseball, just this as this year when they played against each other in the 2012 season opener. Flanking Nate in the center are twins Kyle (left) and Garrett (right). The twins are expected to return to St. Cloud State next year.
