WEDNESDAY BASEBALL WRAP

Hanska became Tomahawk League East's winningest team by chalking up number 12 with a 5-0 blanking over Essig in Wednesday night baseball. Lamberton dropped off the pace by losing to St. James 7-3. It was only the fourth loss for Lamberton. Searles, which was idle, has lost five in the American division. The blanking was Essig's second straight and the Bluejays have scored but two runs in the last three games. Leavenworth's 6-2 win over Gibbon moved the Orioles to second in the Patriot division. In other amateur games, Springfield beat Redwood Falls 6-3 and Sleepy Eye stayed in the hunt with an 11-1 win over Stark.
New Ulm Gold (7-1) won its fifth in a row over Austin 11-6 and Jr. Legion topped Hutchinson for its 13th win against a single loss. VFW Blue (8-6) edged Blue Earth 8-5.
