JR. LEGION TAKES TWO, VS FAIRMONT AGAIN MONDAY

HANSKA - New Ulm Jr. Legion clawed its way back through the elimination bracket with two wins Sunday, one over Fairmont, to set up the deciding championship game at 7 p.m. Monday night at Hanska.

The game will determine the Southwest sub-district champion to enter the VFW District tournament at Sleepy Eye beginning next Thursday.

Adam Loose threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts as New Ulm disposed of Sherburn 13-1 and set up a "must win" game in a rematch with Fairmont. Kaleb Juntuen then limited Fairmont to eight hits in the double elimination decider. Monday each team will have lost to the other once during the tournament.

In the opener, Jr. Legion got three-run homers from Aaron Pfaff and Brandon Johnson. Zach Hoffmann and Pfaff had three hits in four at bats and Johnson two in three. Kevin Larson was 3-4 for the Fairmont game. New Ulm is now 30-3.
