TOMAHAWK EAST LEADERS WIN OPENING PLAYOFF ROUNDS

Two of the three division champions opened Tomahawk League East amateur baseball playoffs with wins Friday night.
Only champion to lose was Leavenworth, 8-4 to St. James.
Hanska tipped New Ulm Brewers 9-2 and Lamberton stopped Gibbon 7-2. Searles shut out Essig 7-0 while Sleepy Eye edge Redwood Falls 6-5. Stark scored a 6-1 win over Springfield.
Second games of the first round best of three series will be played Sunday.
