AUG. 7: BASEBALL DONE IN NEW ULM! EARLIEST?

Mark Aug. 8 on your calendar. After both town ball teams went 0-2 in first round of their respective playoffs, New Ulm was left without a living baseball team. The date and double first round eliminations in four games just could be an all-time record.

Marshall dished the final loss 10-2 over the Kaiserhoff at Johnson Park. It was the second loss in the Class B Region 4B first round playoffs. Previously the Class C Brewers were ousted in two straight by Hanska and five Legion and VFW teams were eliminated. Earlier playoffs on all fronts and later starts condensed summer ball into basically two months. Once baseball stared in May and often lasted into September.

The K made six errors in the loss. Marshall advanced to the state tournament by winning only two games.

New Ulm's combined record in summer town ball was only 14 wins and 35 losses. Kaiserhoff finished 7-17 and the Brewers 7-18.
