BULLHEADS UP LEAGUE LEAD TO 9-0; LOSE FISH BOWL

After a couple of non-conference losses Saturday in their annual "Fishbowl Tournament" the Hanska Bullheads bounced back to shut out the Northfield Millers 4-0 in Dundas on Sunday to up their league leading record to 9-0. Saturday the Minnetonka Lakers edged the Bullheads in the tournament opener. Miesville Groupers beat Minnetonka 6-0 in game two, and Hanska 6-3 for the championship.

In Sunday's win over Northfield, Dave Fauth and Kyle Messner combined to pitch a no-hitter. In six innings of work, Fauth fanned 11 and walked just one. Messner struck out two in the seventh.

The Bullheads did all their scoring early. In the first, John Giefer singled to left. Fauth doubled into the right-center gap. Tom Steinbach drove in Giefer with a base hit. A Doug Ekstrom double brought in Fauth for the second of the inning, and Steinbach scored on an errant throw by the catcher. Consecutive base hits from Bruce Gieseke, Bruce Jacobs, Messner, and Todd Olson accounted for the final Hanska tally in the second.
The Bullheads have the next week off, and resume play Monday July 6 in Fairfax at the annual "Twins Fun Night" game. Contributed by Hanska media representative Bruce Jacobs.
