The count of New Ulm area sports images passed 2,000 at the end of October 2015 for another milestone for the sports website concentrating on the history of team and individual athletics in the area.
During the same period the number of objects of history indexed and recorded reached 4400 in an on-going effort to achive 5,000 items
An image on the site can be, among others, a photograph, drawing or document of such things as batting and pitching statistics for the various teams in the focus area. Although the concentration is on the area involved within the boundary of the New Ulm public school district, NUSC preserves and shares any noteworthy items which may have important sports history to fans in this region.
An object is used to create an index on whatever our editors deem important enough to be preserved.
The index creates such criteria on each item as team name, location, sponsoring organization, archive donor, conference or leagues, type of original material and its file demographic. An item could be cataloged primarily by omne number for the "hard copy", is located, another number to indiccate its location on the webite and may also be included in a separate file of digital archives.
Archiving intern John Hemmelman of Winona and Martin Luther College, had a hand in recent additions to the master library and completed the scan work for the 2000th object.
