Lamberton stretched its dominance of the Region 2C playoffs to a 4-0 record by beating New Ulm
9-4 Wednesday night and Hanska remained very much I the running by clubbing St. James 11-1 in eight innings.
Friday night with Springfield (2-1) is at Lamberton and Hanska (2-2) is host to Sleepy Eye with final games Saturday night.

With two games to go, Lamberton is 3-0 in the Region 2C amateur baseball playoffs and appears headed to the state tornament as one of three league teams eligible to qualify. Lamberton edged Hanska 9-8 in 10 innings Tuesday while New Ulm eked out a win by the same score over St. James which fell to 0-3. Sleepy Eye meanwhile won its first game 6-0 over Springfield which lost its first game.
Lamberton has games remaining at New Ulm and against Springfield.

The race for the state tightened in the second games Sunday when Hanska edged New Ulm 5-4 in a 12-inning thriller at Hanska. Otherwise home teams St. James and Sleepy Eye lost, both suffering their second defeat in the five-game schedule. Springfield ad Lamberton are 2-0 while Hanska and New Ulm are 1-1 each.

High seeds all won opening games in the Region 2C amateur baseball playoff openers Saturday.
Springfield and New Ulm both got shut-out pitching while Lamberton clobbered St. James by 14 runs in the openers. Top three teams from the six Tomahawk East survivors go to the state tournament.

The final round-robin schedule has added Sleepy Eye and St. James to the six-team field for the Region 2C playoffs beginning Saturday. Three of the teams will advance to the Minnesota amateur tournament at Dassel and Hutchinson later in August.
Sleepy Eye eliminated Stark 7-3 while St. James on the third game with Gibbon 6-5. All three games were decided by one run. This game went 10 innings.
Draft selections of a single player for team (new state rule) were also made and announced by Tomahawk League secretary Terry Helget. They included with draft position indicated:
