Maple Grove beat New Ulm Gold 4-1 in the first of two semi-final games in the Junior Upper Midwest Classic tournament underway at New Ulm. Maple Grove later topped Mankato 7-6 for the Junior Uppper Midwest championship. Mankato had edged Osseo 10-9 in the other semi-final.

New Ulm Gold had lost its first game 3-1 to Hutchinson after it had clinched a berth in the semi-finals.
