HANSKA- For SIX innings, Bloomington right-hander Scott McNalley and his Eagle defense frustrated the Bullheads' hitters Saturday afternoon in Hanska before the Bullheads squeaked out a 4-3 come-back win in eight innings. Until the bottom of the seventh, McNalley seemed to wiggle out of every jam with a big strikeout or one of the three double plays.
Tom Steinbach's lead-off homer in the seventh ignited the Bullheads who added two more runs in the inning to tie the Eagles in regulation. Brian Sieve’s single and Scott Suprenaunt’s third hit, a double, sent Sieve to third. Eagle third baseman Scott Kloiber then robbed Bruce Jacobs of a base hit with a diving stop in the hole and a perfect throw to first as Sieve scampered home with the Bullheads second run. Myron Seidl sent a deep fly ball into the left field corner for a big two-out double, scoring the tying run.
Mike Marquardt and Steinbach started the winning rally in the eight with back to back base hits. Sieve ended it with a sacrifice fly scoring the sliding Marquardt on a close play at home. Winning pitcher Kevin Hulke went the distance for Hanska allowing just two earned runs, scattering 11 hits, and striking out eight Eagle hitters.
