Scoring early and often, Mankato advanced to the finals of the Junior Upper Midwest Classic in New Ulm Sunday.
Mankato won its fifth game of the tournament, 12-2 behind the strong pitching of Jack Mages. Mages gave up only three hits and single runs in the third and fifth. Mankato rolled up four runs in the first and six more in the second before closing with two final runs in the fourth. Cameron Slimmer was starter and loser for Tonka with Mitchel Egan finishing up.
