New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

TWIN CITIES - Powerhouse Napoleon Ohio won all seven games to capture the championship of the 48-team American Legion Gopher Classic held this weekend in the Twin Cities. The seventh win was 8-3 over Elk Grove, IL in the Metrodome. New Ulm Gold did not play Napoleon but did lose to Elk Grove 4-0 in bracket play.

Napoleon beat teams from four states in its undefeated run: Mitchell SD 9-6, LaCrosse WI 6-2, Bloomington Gold 13-0, Lakeville North MN 9-4, Apple Valley MN 11-1, Eastview MN 6-5 and Elk Grove 8-3.
