GAYLORD - Tomahawk East and Region 2C champion Lamberton and runnerup Hanska both swept through first round wins in the Minnesota State Amateur baseball tournament Saturday.

Lamberton got three-hit pitching from Derrick Jenniges in blanking Sacred Heart, the 9C runner-up, 2-0. Hanska put up nine runs to top 9C champion Milroy 9-6.

In other Class C action through Saturday , Windom took the Moorhead Miners 1-0 while the Moorhead Brewers topped Wilmont 6-2. In Class B play southern Minnesota teams drew blanks. Mankato lost to Hastings 7-3, Hutchinson lost to Shakopee 4-2, and Marshall was beaten by Miesville 6-3. Other Class B scores: Prior Lake 7, Plato 1; Savage 2-, Rochester 1; Elko 2, Austin Blue Sox 1: Cold Spring 5, Blaine 0; Sauk Rapids 5, Bemidji 0.
Saturday Class C scores: Forest Lake 4, Howard Lake 1; Blue Earth 7, Glencoe 1; Watkins 5, Princeton 1; Winstead 10, Lonsdale 1.

Hanska came up with three runs in the top of the eighth for a 9-6 win over Milroy. Milroy had rallied for three in the fifth to erase an early Hanska lead and tie the game at six-all. Matt Bauer hit a two-run home run for Milroy in the first inning.With the score tied 6-6 in the eighth, Hanska scored three runs to put the game away. Aaron Breu singled, Mikale Gustafson bunted him to second and both were safe on an error by the catcher. Eric Portner bunted but the pitcher threw out Breu at third. After Wilfahrt grounded out to third, Landon Rathmann doubled home two runs. He also scored for the final run. Dayton Larson got the win with three and two thirds innings in relief of starter Gary Wilfahrt while Kyle Fischer was credited with a save.

Lamberton scored single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to edge Sacred Heart 2-0. at Gaylord Saturday.

Landon Erickson hit a solo home run for Lamberton in the seventh and Colby Pack doubled in Tony Ourada for the second run in the eighth. Derrick Jenniges threw the complete game win. He allowed no runs on three hits no walks and three strike outs. Loser--Jeremy Hinderks. Winner--Derrick Jenniges .
