HANSKA TAKES 1-0 WIN OVER WINSTED IN STATE

ARLINGTON -- The Hanska "Darlings", aka "Lakers" stayed alive with a 1-0 win over Winsted in the first game Sunday afternoon in the Minnesota amateur baseball tournament. Hanska now goes against Cannon Falls in the 3:30 game today with a berth in Monday's state championship game at stake.

Cannon Falls earlier handed the tournament darlings their only defeat in the six games played by the Lakers. Hanska has won five of the six games it has already played in the state tournamet. Playing in a seventh game may be an all-time record for games played in one tournament. Hanska beat Milroy 8-6, Moorhead Brewers 10-4 and Blue Earth 3-1 before losing to Cannon Falls 2-5. Since that loss the Lakers only scored three runs but received tough pitching beat St. Markin 2-1 and Winsted 1-0.

Stark draftee Josh Hadley went the full nine innings and gave up eight hits. The contest was scoreless through six before Hanska got its lone run in the seventh with Hadley driving in the game winner.

Box score and detailed play-by-play summary will be posted as soon as available from state baseball tournament's Automated Scorebook.
