OVER 50 BULLHEADS LOST PAIR BY ONE RUN EACH

In game one, Coyotes pitcher John Grimm and the Bullhead's Bruce Jacobs both went the distance in a 7-6 extra-inning shoot-out decided contest. The game was tied at 5 after the scheduled 6 innings, and Montgomery came up with two in the top half of the seventh. The Bullheads scored one, leaving the tying run on base. In M50BL shoot-out rules for a tie-game, a runner is placed at second and each hitter comes to the plate with a 2-2 count.
Todd Olson, Tom Steinbach, and Gary Morshing led the offense with multi-hit games. Steinbach and Morshing each drove in two runs.

In game two, the Bullheads came into the bottom half of the final frame trailing 9-7. With one out, Ray Glenn walked and Olson singled. After a Dave Johnson fielder's choice, Tom Steinbach doubled scoring Glenn and sending Olson to third. Coyotes winning pitcher Mark Pitmann then snared Jacobs' line-drive bid for a game winning hit to end the game. Johnson was the tough-luck loser in a complete game . Steinbach had a huge offensive game for the Bullheads, going four for five with a double, a triple, and four RBI. Johnson also had four hits in five AB. Glenn and James Cottingham were three for four. Olson added two hits with a double.

The River Valley Bullhead 50s (1-3) travel to Bloomington's Dred Scott field Tuesday evening to face Cross-town Traffic in a single seven inning contest, and again Saturday (Oct 3) to face the TC Twins at Kelly Field in a 2 p.m. double-header.
