New Ulm Cathedral emerged victorious in the state's premier Class A football game Friday with an 18-0 win over Wabasso. Cathedral is ranked the No. 1 team in Class A while Wabasso was sixth a week ago and came into the battle of unbeatens with a 5-0 record. Defense dominated as Cathedral scored its sixth consecutive win of the season.
Wabasso had only 11 offensive plays in the second half as Cathedral nursed a 6-0 lead from it's first offensive series of the game and then capped the win with two fourth quarter TDs. Wabasso did have a 14-play and 11-play series in the first half.
