New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

National softball and volleyball coaches have honored two Minnesota Valley Lutheran teams with high academic honors including a third-place rating for the 2009 softball team.

The rating was made by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association with the Chargers earning a team 3.77 grade point average. Hopkins had 3.81 and tied for first with a 3.81 GP. Last year MVL was the national champion with 3.72 GPA and has been in the top 10 for the past four years.

Additionally, the 2008 volleyball team won its seventh striaght academic award for outstanding GPA. Based on report in New Ulm Journal 10/19/2009.
