New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

All conference honors were awarded to five Tomahawk Conference from New Ulm Cathedral and Minnesota Valley Lutheran with selections announced recently.

Junior middle hitter Heather Danell of MVL and Lauren Manderfeld, New Ulm Cathedral senior setter were conference unanimous selection to the 2009 All-Conference team which also included junior setter Miranda Maasz of MVL. Given honorable mention were Cathedral's junior middle hitter Val Lux and MVL senior outside hitter Mindy Sommer.

The conference team is listed in the attachment.

Danell last week was named honorable mention to the coach's all-state team. She is MVL's third all-state volleyball selection in recent years joining Marcie Flygare as an honorable mention and all-state Lisa Willems who went on to coach a Wisconsin state championship high school volleyball team.
