New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

Two standout seniors from Nicollet and a defensive stalwart from Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop were selected as Players of the Year for volleyball and football at KNUJ's 45th banquet Tuedsay night in New Ulm.

Jenna Mettler was selected as Volleyball Player of the Year and Nicollet fellow athlete Jordan Rudenick was named Offensive Football Player of the Year. Defensive Player of the Year was Josh Boyda of G-F-W. All are seniors.

Sports Central area players from New Ulm among the candidates included Lauren Manderfeld of Cathedral and Heather Danell of MVL in volleyball; Michael Glawe of Cathedral as offensive football player and Tyler Polzin, New Ulm; Zach Fischer, Cathedral; and Bryan Kehren, New Ulm, defensive players.

Guest speaker was Dennis Amundson, Minnesota State volleyball coach.
