(See attachments for pictures of champion teams) In a double overtime thriller, tournament darling Winona St. Matthews captured the D-3 boys' championship, edging Lewiston, 51-47, in the annual Lutheran Grade School tournament held at MLC and MVL. Earlier Winona had upset pre-tourney favorite Minneapolis Pilgrim. North St. Paul Christ won the big school boys' with a 43-40 squeaker over Bloomington.

In the recent LaCrosse area tournament St. Matthews was knocked out in the semi-finals and watched Lewiston win that title. The runner-up to Lewiston there will play in the small school tournament next weekend.

Minneapolis Pilgrim and Mankato Mt. Olive captured the girls' championship trophies. Pilgrim stormed over Redwood Falls St. John's 50-18 to win the Division 3 girls while Mt. Olive took Bloomington 26-19. In the first round the Pilgrim boys had taken Redwood Falls 40-18.

Four third-place finishers and as many consolation champions previously were named. Next week the small schools of the group take over with a similar schedule.

Fairfax Prairie Lutheran won the division 3 girl's third place spot while the boys were consolation champions. St. Paul's of New Ulm captured a third and fourth place while Rochester Resurrection finished fourth and consolation runner-up.
