NEW ULM --- A free public seminar for baseball and softball scorekeepers has been announced by New Ulm Sports Central, the sports website for the New Ulm area and sponsor for the seminar. It will be held 10:30 a.m. March 27 during the New Ulm Home and Self Improvement show at the civic center (2nd floor meeting rooms).
The seminar is designed for anyone who keeps a baseball and softball score books for any reason and will provide tips and instructions for the hobbyists as well as those who have an official capacity at baseball games. It will be especially helpful to team associates who keep dugout score books as well as those who are official scorers at games. It will provide background in score keeping for the coaches and team managers who recruit and hand down instructions each season.
Brian Larson, who has been the official scorekeeper at the state amateur baseball tournament for 25 years, will cover the basics of scoring, unusual scoring plays, different types of score books and answer questions.
A portion of the seminar may be devoted to new electronic methods of recording details of games.
