BELLE PLAINE--- The results were not posted to local media until Monday for a regular season-ending loss by New Ulm High School boys' basketball. The Eagles were routed by Belle Plaine 74-44 even though the teams played to a virtual standoff in the second half. Belle Plaine ended the first half with a 50-19 margin. New Ulm plays Willmar in the section tournament this week.
Zach Quiring, New Ulm's newest "One Grand Cager" had 12 points. For Belle Plaine, Justin Potthast with 18 and Charlie Kern with 15 plus seven rebounds were the leading scorers.
The score and details of NUHS boys' basketball game at Belle Plaine Saturday afternoon were unreported into Monday morning. When the score was not reported at the New Ulm Journal website, KNUJ website, Minnesota Scores, MaxPreps, the Minnesota State High School League websites or speical requests to NUHS, Coach Randy Carlson provided it from Belle Plaine at NUSC's request.
It was a rescheduled game. Normally the NUHS coaches are expected to report the score to local media. Normally NUSC reports the scores and reproduces media accounts in the team's "scrapbook" section in place of detailed "live" write-ups.
