FIVE BOWLERS INDUCTED TO NU HOF

Five bowlers were inducted into the New Ulm Bowling Association's Hall of Fame in awards presented Friday night at the New Ulm Country Club. (see attachment below for picture)

Three honored included the late Valeria Clobes, Hazel Gasner and Joyce Glaser. Men recipients were Craig Anderson and Galen Bode. The program also honored Dave and Mary Lou Guest with the Enthusiasm awards.

Women have been honored since 1971 while the New Ulm men's awards have been given since 1958.

Hall of Famers are pictured in the PDF attachment. The picture includes family of late Valeria Clobes, Hazel Gasner, Joyce Glaser, Craig Anderson and Galen Bode.

VALERIA CLOBES --- Started her bowling career in 1957 at Winthrop Lanes. Bowled until 2008 when it became necessary for her to stop due to health reasons. She had a career high series of 48 and a high average of 170. Valeria was also a member of the 600 club.

Valeria actively participated in leagues at Miff's Lanes in Gibbon, Pop and Pete's Bowl and Eat in Lafayette and George's Bowl-O-Mat (member of scratch league and also served as team captain)and Cloverleaf in New Ulm. Valeria and husband Lloyd sponsored many teams for more than 20 years as Lloyd's Feed Service of Lafayette.

HAZEL GASNER --- Active in bowling for 47 years. Recorded a high game of 246 and high series of 641. Her dedication led her to participate in several tournaments on local, state and national levels. Due to her consistency, she had two all-spare games to her credit. Hazel also was a long-time member of the New Ulm women's traveling team.

In 2006 Hazel was awarded the Joel and Rheeta Albrecht Enthusiasm award for her loyalty to the sport. She continues as an
JOYCE GLASER --- Bowled for past 35 years demonstrating excellent performance over the years and is still competitive in the sport today. Has career high game of 268 and high series of 650. Season high average of 175.

Served as captain in Bits-N-Pieces League for over 20 years. Also served on committees and the board of directors of New Ulm Women's Bowling Association. Has participated in city, state and national tournaments.
CRAIG ANDERSON --- Served as vice president for his league for 15 year and team captain for 30.
Was instrumental in starring the 3M after-hours league and is a past recipient of the Stan Manderfeld award.
During his 44-year career, has had high game of 300, 722 series and averaged 198. Participated in various tournaments at Fairmont, Alexandria, St. Cloud, State American Legion and local and state tournaments.

GALEN BODE --- Bowling for 52 years, he has been a captain for many of the seasons. Member of a winning team in the state tournament.

In his career had high game of 280, high series of 724 and high average of 197. Had four other 700'sin his lifetime and also held an average of more than 190 most of the time. Galen's father, Louis Bode, was inducted to the Men's Hall of Fame in 1992.

Sports Central plans to add the all-time list of men and women bowlers who have received he Hall of Fame honors.
