New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

For the second time, a Springfield basketball graduate has coached a state championship team. Matt Cordes is the coach of New London-Spicer which won the state basketball championship this weekend.

Matt is a youth pastor in the New London-Spicer area and coaches the basketball team for several years, twice winning the state championship. He played with the previous Springfield team to go to the state tournament when his father Dick of New Ulm was the coach. Dick was noted for his baseball exploits both at New Ulm and Springfield.
