JOURNAL HONORS THREE LOCAL CAGERS

Three local prep basketball players were selected to the All-Journal team by editors and writers of the newspaper. The team was announced Thusday, April 15. 2010. MarshallBjorklund of Sibley East with 74 and Holzhueter with 71 were the two dominating selections as evidenced by their high point ranks in the Journal's selection system.

The Journal commented on the three:

Galen Holzhueter, Sr., Forward, MVL - Holzhueter, the Tomahawk Conference Player of the Year, led the conference in scoring as he averaged nearly 25 points a game. He also averaged 11 rebounds, he had 108 assists and 45 steals this season.
Holzhueter ends his career as the leader in nearly every category for the Chargers. He is the all-time city scoring leader with 2,053 points and is just the 64th player in Minnesota history to score 2,000 points.
He is the leader in field goals attempted with 1,543, field goals made with 817, free throws made with 404 and attempted with 568. His 838 rebounds are third most in school history.
His 352 assists are fifth most and he is the only non point guard in the top five. He was also a four-time All-Tomahawk Conference selection.

Kevin Larson, Jr., Guard, Cathedral = Larson was one of the top scorers in the Tomahawk as he averaged 18.7 points a game and he was fourth in the conference in assists with just over four a game. Larson was a unanimous all-conference selection. For his career, he averages 16.6 points and 3.75 assists a game.

- Quiring was New Ulm's top shooter as he averaged 17.5 points, six rebounds and three assists a game. He was a three time All-SCC selection and he scored more than 1,000 points for his career.
