MARK THIS DATE! TWO NU TEAMS RANKED #ONE

Without doing a lot of digging into the records, we believe this date -- April 27, 2010 -- goes into the sports history books as a first for the New Ulm high school baseball community. Both Cathedral and New Ulm High School have been given first place honors by 'Let's Play Baseball" which is distributed by the Associated Press.

The teams of Bob Weier and Jay Backer led the field in Class AA and A in this week's rankings.

New Ulm (AA) was followed in order by Litchfield, Glencoe-Silver Lake, St. Cloud Cathedral, LaCrescent, St. Anthony Village, Staples-Motely, Delano, Fergus Falls and Fairmont in the top 10. Cloquet, who the Eagles play May 15 at Princeton, is ranked 14th. Worthington of Section 2 is 20th. Luverne (Section 2) received some consideration.

Cathedral is followed by Wabasha-Kellog, Eden Valley-Watkins, Adrian, MACCRAY, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross, Fosston, West Lutheran, Hawley and Mankato Loyola in the top 10. Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial is ranked 14th with Sleepy Eye St. Mary's and G-F-W also getting consideration.
