New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

MARSHALL - Fairmont ended a seige of frustration against New Ulm by 10-running the Eagles 10-0 in the championship round of the Section 3AA baseball tournament.

The second place finish was New Ulm's third consecutive runner-up situation in the Section for the past three years. At one time the Eagles were ranked #1 in the state.

Fairmont scored three in the third an fourth innings and then fourth in the sixth. The last three scored on a two-out 370-foot home run by John Ellis. New Ulm had only two hits (Quiring and Loose) and finished the year with a 19-6 record.
