NORTHFIELD - Pitchers Tom Steinbach, Myron Seidl, and Kyle Messner shut out the Northfield Millers 8-0 Sunday night in MSMABA baseball. The Bullhead trio allowed only lead-off hits in the fourth and fifth.
Searles scored a run in the first inning without the benefit of a hit as Marc Max, who had reached on a fielder's choice, scored on a wild pitch. Two runs were scored in the second on a pair of walks by Bruce Gieseke and Al Felber followed by a Messner base hit, and then Bruce Jacobs scored on a steal of third and a wild throw by the catcher.
In the four the Bullheads scored five to put the game away. Gieseke led off with another walk, Messner was hit by a pitch from Millers losing pitcher John Noack, and then 4 consecutive singles by Messner, Max, Steinbach, and Mike Marquardt, and a bases loaded walk to Brian Sieve plated the runs. All 12 Bullheads hits were singles in the contest. Eckstrom, Messner, Max, Steinbach, and Sieve all had two-hit games.
The Bullheads travel to Lonsdale Wednesday for their next MSMABA league game.
