The New Ulm Gold VFW team goes against Sleepy Eye Thursday 6 p.m. and the Junior Legion tangles with Minnetonka at 8:30 p.m. in the opening two games of the Junior Upper Midwest Classic. The 12-team tournament plays through Sunday with the championship game at 2:30 p.m.

Six teams play preliminary games in two pools with the four best records advancing to the runner-up and championship games Sunday.

POOL A - New Ulm Junior Legion, Osseo, rochester, Hutchinson, Creighton, Nebraska, Tonka Mudhens.
POOL B - New Ulm VFW Gold, Omaha Nebraska Gross, Maple Grove Junior Legion, Luverne, Mankato, Sleepy Eye.

New Ulm's Blue VFW team does not play in the tournament.

Friday games start at 10 a.m. and run at three sites through 7:30 in the evening. Games are at Mueller Park and Essig in addition to a full schedule at Johnson Park. Friday games for New Ulm teams include VFW Gold meeting Luverene at 5:00 p.m. and Junior Legion playing Hutchinson at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Gold meets Maple Grove and Omaha Gross and Junior Legion plays Rochester and Osseo Nebraska Gross.
