ST. PETER - Right fielder Matt Bishop led off the bottom of the 6th inning with a single and scored the winning run on a double play attempt to give the St. Peter Saints a 2-1 victory over the Searles Bullheads here Tuesday evening.
Saints starting and winning pitcher Scott Zeiher and Bullheads ace lefthander Kevin Hulke were locked up in a pitcher's duel from the start of the game. Hulke suffered the tough complete game loss, allowing just six singles and striking out four. and Tom Sterling earned the save by holding Searles scoreless in the seventh.
St. Peter scored in the third inning on a walk, a sacrifice bunt, and a base hit. The Bullheads promptly answered back in the fourth on doubles by Scott Schaefer and Tom Steinbach. That was to be all the scoring until that sixth inning Saints rally.
Next action for the Bullheads is Sunday as they travel to play Edina Braemar and then back that direction again Monday evening to face Shakopee in a game originally scheduled for July 15.
