New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

New Ulm's three VFW-age teams (16 and under) begin play in three of the four sub-district tournaments Thursday. The four sub-districts send their winners to New Ulm later for the Second District tournament. Sub-District brackets are being attached.

New Ulm Jr. Legion plays at 1 p.m. Thursday against Wells in the second game of the Southwest tournament being hosted by St. James. Fairmont meets Mapleton, Blue Earth plays the Fairmont-Mapleton winner and St. James goes against the New Ulm-Wells survivor.

In the Northwest brackets, New Ulm Gold has a first round bye and awaits the winner of the Glencoe vs Sleepy Eye game which opens the tournament at 10 a.m. The Hutchinson #1 vs Springfield game goes against Dassel.

In the southeast tournament New Ulm Blue plays at 4 p.m. Thursday against Hutchinson #2. Also in that tournament, St. Peter meet Shakopee and Holy Family plays Mankato Thursday Chaska is the seventh team and is given a bye into the second round against the Holy Family-Mankato winner.

Eight first and second place teams from the sub-districts will play for the 2nd district title July 22-25 at Johnson and Mueller Parks in New Ulm with the championship decided Sunday at noon.
