WACONIA - Terry Steinbach carried a one-hit shutout into the seventh inning of the Searles Bullheads 5-1 victory in Waconia Friday evening over the Islanders. In the final inning, three straight hits produced a run Waconia's run, before Steinbach was able to end the game on a strikeout and a come-backer.
He struck out seven and walked only one.
The Bullheads jumped on Islanders' starter Shayne Marker for three runs in the firs tinning with the aid of two walks. John Giefer doubled and Dave Fauth, and Tom Steinbach singled in the inning. Searles scored once in the fourth on three walks and a Mike Marquardt single, and again in the fifth on three consecutive hits by Bruce Gieseke, Doug Eckstrom, and Kyle Messner. The Bullheads received eight free passes in the game and out-hit the Islanders 9-4.
Searles will host St. Louis Park and Union Hill Sunday with game times scheduled for 4:00PM and 6:00PM.
