BULLHEADS GET 14K'S IN 5-1 WIN OVER ST. LOUIS PARK

SEARLES - Pitchers Dave Fauth and Kyle Messner combined to strike out 14 St. Louis Park hitters in Sunday's MSMABA River Valley League baseball here. The scheduled second game of the doubleheader was cancelled prior to game time at the request of Union Hill and will not be made up.

Fauth allowed just two hits and one unearned run in four innings to earn the win. Messner threw three innings of shutout ball striking out eight of the 10 batters he faced.

Fauth started the scoring for the Bullheads leading off the second wi9th a a long double to dead center field. After Tom Steinbach single, Todd Olson blooped a Texas Leaguer into left to score Fauth.
In the Third, Messner drilled a one out double off the ivy monster in right. Following a Mike Marquardt single, Messner scored on a wild pitch.

Five straight singles off the bats of Messner, John Giefer, Marquardt, Fauth, and Steinbach produced two fifth inning runs, and after Marc Max and Doug Eckstrom had singled in the sixth, Marquardt drove in Max with the final Bullhead run.

Searles collected 13 hits off Cardinals' losing pitcher Steve Swenson.

After road games in LeCenter and Fairbault Friday and Saturday this week, Searles will host division foe Veseli Sunday afternoon Aug. 8 at 4 p.m. in their final home game of the season.
