ONE OUT, ONE MORE GOES TUESDAY IN REGION C PLAYOFFS

Stark became the first casualty of the Region 2C playoffs Sunday as a result of an 8-5 loss to the New Ulm Brewers Sunday night. That result and Essig's 11-4 win over Lamberton set up a winners vs winners and losers vs losers round of games Tuesday night.

The winner of the Searles vs Essig game at New Ulm will qualify for the state tournament The Lamberton/New Ulm loser is done while the winner plays the loser of the Essig/Searles game Friday.

Survivors meet Saturday (and possibly Sunday) for the right to go to the state as the Region champion to face the runner-up from another reason in the first game.

Lamberton got eight strike-out pitching from Sleepy Eye draftee Andrew Woitas. Derrick Jenniges went only three innings for Lamberton.

Essig also got three hits from Woitas and two from Kyle Helget including a two-run double. Mitch Stueber and Larry Haala each had a pair also. Colby Pack had three and Matt Samyn two along with two runs-batted-in from draftee Andy Cook.

The Brewers won behind Springfield draftee Jordan Milbrath (W) and Zach More (S). Zack Hoffmann homered for the Brewers. Cody Walter cracked a grand slam to tie the game for Stark at one point.
