BULLHEADS ROUT BELLE PLAINE IN LEAGUE FINAL

BELLE PLAINE - Pitchers Dave Fauth and Kevin Hulke were on their game and the Bullhead's bats came alive as Searles defeated Belle Plaine 15-1 in A final MSMABA River Valley League contest.

Starter Fauth allowed one hit in three innings. Hulke threw the final two allowing three hits and an earned run.

Ex-Gopher ace starting pitcher Terry Knop was uncharacteristically wild as Searles scored eight second inning runs to put the game away early. Knop walked five, hit two, and allowed four singles in the inning. Brian Sieve had two hits and Mike Marquardt and Scott Suprenant the other two. The Bullheads added one in the third on a Kyle Messner walk, a Bruce Jacobs single and a Marquardt sacrifice fly.
Searles sealed the deal with a six-run fourth. Marc Max and Messner walked, Todd Olson and Jacobs singled, and Marquardt doubled to the fence in center field. Tom Steinbach followed Marquardt with an RBI double, and Doug Ekstrom drove in Steinbach for the final Bullhead run.
Jacobs, Marquardt, Sieve, Suprenant and Todd Olson had two hit games. Marquardt drove in five of the 15 Searles runs.

Searles ends the league season with a 10-5 record and Belle Plaine dropped to 6-9.
The Bullheads travel to Union Hill Tuesday evening for an exhibition game before starting play in the MSMABA state tournament Saturday August 21st.
