ESSIG GOES DOWN 10-0 IN EIGHT INNINGS

WILLMAR -- Section 2C champion Essig fell behind in the top of the first 2-0 in the state tournament's second class C game here Sunday and ended up a 10-0 10-run rule loser in the state tournament Sunday. The Bluejays made two errors and allowed two hits to give Lastrup the early advantage. Pitcher Chad Wiess has retired 11 straight batters before yielding to Bill Kramer for a perfect eighth as Essig bats were quiet.

In Class B, Sauk Rapids has a 8-5 lead over Marshall in fourth inning.
