TORVICK WINS STATE BOWLING HOF HONORS

New Ulm Bowling Association members recognized the selection of Dean Torvick to the Minnesota State USBC bowling all of fame at its annual banquet Feb. 25 at New Ulm Country Club.

Torvick will be inducted in ceremonies Saturday at Alexandria. In the photo he receives an "advance" congratulatory cake from the association, president Sandy Reinke doing the honors.

New Ulm's only other Hall of Fame member is Joel Albrecht who preceded his son-in-law as owner of Concordia Lanes.

Torvick in 2005 was selected Minnesota's first-ever American Proprietor of the Year Award given to a Minnesota proprietor.

Born in Duluth, Torvick grew up in Rochester and moved to New Ulm in 1979. He worked at Concordia since 1980 and became a part-owner in 1996, making the total purchase in 2004.

During his tenure he has been involved in Minnesota state level governance and served as the proprietor's liaison to a six-state bowling committee. He was been involved with the state high school bowling program and scholarship activities as well as coaching many district championship teams.
