JESSE NOFFTZ RECORDS 1,000TH OIT

New Ulm Sports Central recorded its 1,00th Object Identification Tag (we call 'em Oits) this week. Jesse Nofftz, a student history intern from Lacrosse, WI who attends Martin Luther College, recorded the entry.
An "OIT" is a description of one of the historical items which NUSC puts into its archival system to preserve New Ulm area sports history. In this case the connection established a season summary for women's bowling in New Ulm's City League for the 1945-46 season. This was record of all games bowled that year and was maintained by Edna (Mrs. Bert Fenske), better known as Polly. It was acquired as one of a number of pieces documenting New Ulm's women's bowling history with the donation courtesy of Concordia Lanes.
The OIT includes a title, dates, text descriptive material and has a number of "criteria" which may be searched on the website.
For instance, to find this particular OIT, use the "Search Sports History from Yesterday" feature at the left and click on "specific criteria". In the drop down boxes, select "New Ulm" as the location, "New Ulm Women's Bowling Association" as the entity and "bowling" for the sport. Then click on the description which describes the 1945-46 women's bowling records.
