New Ulm Sports Central - Preserving and Sharing New Ulm Area Sports History

New Ulm River Rats Gold took the championship of the AA division in the New Ulm tournament this weekend. The River Rats tipped Belle Plaine 7-5 in the finals after nudging Red Wing 6-3 in the championship bracket semi-finals. BP squeaked by EP (Eden Prairie) 3-2 in the other semi-final game to set up the title game between the River Rats and went on to take third after a 14-3 win over Red Wing.

Chanhassen won the Class A championship with a 13-2 decision over Lake Crystal. Mankato took third place by beating Northfield.

A rain delay Until noon Saturday, May 21. caused tournament to limit games to 6 innings or 1:45 time Saturday. New Ulm weather is also linked here.

Two Sunday Class A pool games were cancelled by the weather to allow the tournament to finish the necessary games between rain squalls and showers.
