New Ulm's four summer youth teams had two teams undefeated after Thursday games, one eliminated and one standing 0-1 in District and Sub-District playoffs Thursday.
In Day Two of the playoffs, Legion Gold trailed by one run in the ninth inning until it exploded for three two-out runs to nip Mankato Nationals 5-3 at Johnson Park. With a 2-0 record and the only unbeaten team, Gold moves into the championship round Saturday against the survivor of elimination play between Sleepy Eye, Worthington and Mankato.
Earlier in the day Blue lost a tough one 1-0 to Sleepy Eye and fell out of the tournament with its' second loss.
Jr. Legion won handily over Blue Earth 13-2 in the southwest district at Fairmont while at Hanska in the northwest sub-district , Glencoe stomped on the Gold VFW team 14-3 to send that club into elimination play.
